wickedalucard's art dump and random nonsense

Anonymous asked: Hi! I've been following you and your art for a couple of years now, and I must say, every time you go to Comic Fiesta, I get more and more jealous each year. And I've finally decided to maybe come next year ;u; So my question is, would you consider writing a guide about CF? I also come from PH so I thought that a fellow countryman's guide would be better, from airport to accommodations to convention proper. No worries if you're busy ^^v Thank you so much!

Hi anon!

I’m not good at giving guides but I’ll try!

First of all CF’s schedule is a bit radical. And although it’s consistently held during December, the schedule can be difficult sometimes [CF 2018, was held near Christmas, and some of my friends weren’t able to attend because of that].

A few years back they also switched venues and everything became really really difficult. I’m so glad they returned to KLCC. So please be sure to check their site or facebook page beforehand.

[Preparation]

Try to book a flight months ahead if you want to get cheaper rates. Once you’ve already finalized your days of stay [considering you already know the CF days/schedule], it’s also very important to book for a place to stay early.

During our first CF trip, we tried staying at a cheap hotel/motel. It was a very very bad decision. Don’t. Just don’t.

After learning our lesson, we just use Airbnb. It’s cheaper especially if you’re gonna be with a group. It’s also much much more convenient. I strongly recommend it. And if CF will be held at KLCC, it’s ideal to book a place around that area as well.

[On to PH airport]

Traffic here is hell on earth, so please consider leaving your place early. The lines/queue in the airport can also get horribly long and slow, so you really have to arrive early. This year we arrived early but we still had to wait in line for 2 hours.

It’s also very important to bring a lot of patience. Airport staff in the PH are mostly rude. It depends though, there are always nice staff, but they are rare so expect the worst. I have bad RNG so I seem to attract shit. Always smile though.

[KL airport]

Things are well organized. Just follow directions and everything will go smoothly. They also have an airport mall in case you want to grab a snack after your flight.

[Important] Buy a sim in the airport! Having access to internet anywhere is so important. Their simcards usually have “tourist” promos. And they’re sold at reasonable prices, ranging from 200php - 400php, with reasonable data limit at really really good connection speed!

Btw, on a different note, I just love their ISPs hnghh! I saw advertisements in KL and I always feel jealous. They have ISPs that provide 1Gps Fibre for 199RM/month. That’s roughly 2,526php. Right now, what I have here in the PH is a staggering 50Mbps Fibre connection for 2,899php/month, [that’s 228RM/month]. Sadness.

[Still at KL airport]

They have KLIA Ekspres, an express train that’ll drop you at KL Sentral Station (57km ride in just 20something minutes). From KL Sentral Station, you can take a train to drop you at KLCC. (Okay, for this whole low tier made up guide, let’s just assume CF will be at KLCC).

Trains in Malaysia are nice and efficient. We actually enjoyed it.

But since we’re always tired and sleep deprived, we just take a Grab ride. It’s a bit pricey but at least we can nap on the way. The Grab app you use locally can be used there as well, so it’s really convenient.

DO NOT TAKE THE TEKSI roaming around/outside the airport. They charge literally 250% higher and I learned my lesson the hard way during our first time. But hey, it’s the same in the PH. Taxis around the airport here are also spawns of satan so I guess it’s nothing new, I just can’t believe I fell for that during our first time.

[CF]

Depending on your intent, but I personally prefer to just roam around and be your typical con-goer. December is my only break from work and for me, managing a booth feels like work so I don’t do it. It feels inspiring to get to buy merch from artists I follow and meet friends in CF. CF also has guest artists who does workshops, and it’s really nice to attend them. They don’t have a special or higher ticket pass [unlike PH cons]. You can attend workshops, roam around all the booths, line up for guest artist signing, and do a lot with just the main CF ticket entrance that you paid for. Which is again, cheaper than local cons. CF tickets are 60rm for both days [762php only for both days]!

[Some of the things we learned]

If ever you plan to buy souvenirs, Central Market is a good place to visit. Things there are cheaper compared to buying inside malls in KL. Plus, you can also haggle if your dignity permits you.

There’s also Kinokuniya in Suria KLCC, and I buy most of my artbooks there. It’s cheaper compared to ordering online, and I get to see rare finds that aren’t available locally. If you plan to buy a lot, like really, A LOT of books, I recommend purchasing a Kinokuniya privilege card (38rm = 482php). It expires after a year but you’ll get a huge discount cut from the books you buy. But again, only if you plan to buy a lot.

And, if you don’t prefer spicy food [like me], there’s Nasi Ayam (Chicken Rice). It’s good, it’s cheap, it’s easy to find, and it’s not spicyyyyy. Also about food, if you plan to be adventurous and try diff restaurants/fast food, if they say “it’s not spicy”, it means it’s spicy, kinda like Lucky Me Sweet and Spicy Canton. If they say “it’s spicy”, then it really means “give me your tongue and I’ll stab it and put chili on it”, at least for me.

If you smoke cigarettes (like me), the price of cigarettes in Malaysia are doubled compared to local ones (but they have better menthol flavors). And alcoholic beverage are 4x of our local alcoholic beverage prices (I don’t usually drink though so I don’t mind and I don’t buy wwwww).

And I guess that’s that! I hope it helped.

I hope you get the chance to experience CF!

Anonymous asked: Hullo sir. I just viewed your photo diary about CF (lovely haul btw, I'm so jealous), and there's this one nagging thought on my mind. Why is your skin so clear???????? You're a guy but your skin is clearer than mine, a female???????? How????????

Hi!

Thank you for reading my haul diary! (And the main reason why I’m completely broke at the moment OTL)

Honestly I don’t have clear skin. I only wear make up + use phone filter.

The internet is a lie;;;;

(Sometimes I’m also a raccoon)
